We are working with a well-established manufacturing business operating a 24/7 continuous process operation. The site is well invested, running modern PLC-controlled plant and equipment, with a strong focus on reliability, safety and continuous improvement.
This is a days-based role, Monday to Friday, reporting into senior site management. As Maintenance Manager, you will lead a multi-disciplinary maintenance function, including an Electrical Manager and a Mechanical Manager and their teams, driving forward a preventative maintenance strategy and improving plant reliability, downtime and performance across a heavy industry, continuous process environment.
This role would suit an experienced Maintenance Manager, or an ambitious Lead Engineer or Assistant Manager ready for their next step, with proven heavy industry experience and strong people management skills. The team is diverse, so the ability to lead, coach and engage people as effectively as you manage processes is essential. It's a genuine opportunity to shape engineering strategy and make a lasting impact within an established manufacturing business.
Responsibilities of a Maintenance Manager:
- Leading and developing a multi-disciplinary maintenance team, including an Electrical Manager and a Mechanical Manager and their engineers
- Creating, managing and executing a preventative maintenance programme to reduce breakdowns
- Managing the maintenance department against KPI targets and an agreed budget
- Coordinating and reducing breakdown downtime across a 24/7 continuous process operation
- Implementing corrective and preventative safety measures across the site
- Liaising with contractors, suppliers and internal stakeholders on maintenance activities
- Managing and maintaining the site's computerised maintenance management system (CMMS)
Skills & Qualifications of a Maintenance Manager:
- Proven experience managing maintenance teams within a heavy industry or continuous process manufacturing environment
- Time-served engineer, ideally with formal engineering qualifications
- Strong people management skills, with the ability to lead, coach and engage a diverse team
- Experience working with PLC-controlled plant and a CMMS
- Good working knowledge of condition-based and preventative maintenance strategies
