We are working with a highly automated pharmaceutical distribution business operating at the centre of the UK healthcare supply chain. The site is a fast-paced, highly regulated automated logistics environment, responsible for the storage and distribution of critical medical products nationwide.
This is a great opportunity for a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer to join a highly structured engineering function supporting a 3-shift rotating pattern. You will be responsible for ensuring the reliability and performance of a heavily automated warehouse environment, working on advanced materials handling systems including Knapp, Peem and Schaefer technologies.
This role would suit a Maintenance Engineer who enjoys fast-paced automation, strong team structure, and clear focus on uptime, reliability and continuous improvement. It is particularly well suited to engineers early in their career (post-apprenticeship with solid hands-on experience) looking to develop within a high-volume automated environment.
Responsibilities of a Maintenance Engineer:
- Deliver planned preventative maintenance to maximise uptime across automated warehouse systems
- Respond to breakdowns quickly and effectively to minimise operational disruption
- Maintain and repair complex automated equipment (Knapp / Peem / Schaefer systems)
- Record all maintenance activity accurately using CMMS systems
- Carry out structured fault finding and diagnostics across mechanical and electrical systems
- Support root cause analysis to prevent repeat failures and improve equipment reliability
- Work closely with operations to ensure continuous flow of goods through the site
- Support planned shutdowns and maintenance windows
Qualifications & Skills of a Maintenance Engineer:
- NVQ Level 3 / time-served apprenticeship in Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical)
- Experience in FMCG, logistics, warehousing or automated distribution environments
- Strong fault-finding skills on automated or production equipment
- Experience using CMMS systems (desirable)
- Comfortable working in a fast-moving, high-pressure operational environment
- Strong team player with a proactive maintenance mindset
