We are working with a leading UK food manufacturing business, home to one of the country's best-known snack brands, operating within a high-volume FMCG production environment. The site is a highly automated facility undergoing a major investment programme worth several million pounds over the next three years, reinforcing an already strong focus on reliability, efficiency and continuous improvement. The engineering team is well established and structured, with a proactive, planned approach to maintenance rather than a reactive one.
This is a great opportunity for a Maintenance Engineer (Electrical Bias) to join a forward-thinking engineering team on a 4 on 4 off days and nights shift pattern, working across high-speed production and packaging lines. The successful candidate will carry out planned and reactive maintenance, support root cause analysis and play a key role in driving plant reliability as the site's investment programme continues to roll out.
This role would suit an apprentice-trained Maintenance Engineer who wants to be part of a well-invested, process-driven FMCG environment during a genuine period of growth, helping to shape strong engineering teams and processes for the future, with real opportunities for training, development and career progression.
Responsibilities of a Maintenance Engineer:
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance across high-speed production and packaging equipment
- Respond to breakdowns quickly and effectively to minimise downtime
- Diagnose and repair faults across mechanical and electrical systems
- Support root cause analysis to eliminate repeat failures
- Work closely with production teams to ensure efficient machine performance
- Support continuous improvement and reliability projects across the site
- Maintain accurate records using CMMS systems
Skills & Qualifications of a Maintenance Engineer:
- NVQ Level 3 / City & Guilds / BTEC in Engineering (Electrical bias preferred)
- Apprentice-trained Maintenance Engineer
- Experience within FMCG, food manufacturing or high-speed production environments
- Strong fault-finding ability across electrical and mechanical systems
- PLC fault-finding and SCADA experience advantageous

- Basic salary: £57,294.07 – with overtime and bonus, most engineers earn circa £65,000
