We are working with a leading UK food manufacturing business operating at a high-volume, highly automated production site supplying well-known consumer products across the UK. The business is part of a larger national operation with a strong focus on engineering excellence, continuous improvement, and long-term investment in both equipment and people.
This is a great opportunity for a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer to join a highly capable engineering team working a 4 on 4 off days and nights shift pattern. You will be responsible for maintaining and improving a fast-paced automated production environment, supporting both mechanical and electrical systems to ensure maximum uptime and efficiency.
This role would suit a Maintenance Engineer who wants to work in a business where engineering is genuinely valued, with strong investment in training, structured development pathways, and a clear culture of internal progression. It is also ideal for engineers who want to move into a more proactive, improvement-led maintenance environment including predictive maintenance and continuous improvement projects.
🔧 Responsibilities of a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer:

Carry out planned preventative maintenance across high-speed production and packaging equipment

Respond to breakdowns quickly and effectively to minimise production downtime

Diagnose and repair faults across mechanical and electrical systems
-
Support root cause analysis to identify and eliminate repeat failures
-
Work closely with production teams to ensure efficient changeovers and machine performance
-
Support continuous improvement and reliability projects on site
-
Ensure all maintenance activity is completed in line with Health & Safety standards
-
Maintain accurate records using CMMS systems
🧠 Skills & Qualifications of a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer:

NVQ Level 3 / C&G / BTEC in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering

Strong electrical bias preferred with good mechanical understanding

Experience within FMCG, food manufacturing or fast-paced production environments
-
Strong fault-finding ability, ideally across both electrical and mechanical systems
-
Understanding of PLC fault finding and SCADA systems (advantageous)
-
Ability to work effectively in a high-volume, fast-moving environment
-
Strong team player with a proactive approach to maintenance and improvement
