We are working with a busy manufacturing site in Hamilton operating within the FMCG/industrial manufacturing sector. The site runs a wide range of machinery, from robotics, conveyors and flow wrappers through to large industrial boilers and compressors, with a strong focus on proactive, planned maintenance and continuous improvement.
This is a great opportunity for a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer looking to join an already established maintenance team on a strong shift package, working across a varied plant with real scope to contribute to efficiency and downtime improvements.
This role would suit a hands-on engineer from a medium to heavy industry background who enjoys variety, takes pride in proactive maintenance rather than firefighting, and is comfortable supporting and mentoring trainees and apprentices as part of a team.
Responsibilities of a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer:
- Provide a mechanical engineering service to the production team to minimise downtime
- Carry out planned, proactive maintenance across a wide range of plant machinery
- Maintain commercial awareness of budgets to ensure the right spares are held
- Identify and implement ways to continuously improve efficiency and downtime
- Collect and compile maintenance data as required
- Support, encourage and motivate trainee fitters and apprentices
- Work safely at all times, raising any safety concerns promptly
Skills & Qualifications of a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer:
- Level 3 mechanical engineering qualification (minimum)
- Experience within a manufacturing maintenance department
- Background in a medium to heavy industry environment
- Some PLC knowledge would be an advantage
