Our client is a global leader in recycling technology with over four decades of experience delivering machine-based recycling solutions to major retailers, municipalities and the beverage industry worldwide. Following the launch of the UK's new Deposit Return Scheme, the business is significantly scaling its field operations function and investing heavily in new vehicles, equipment and infrastructure to support a major nationwide rollout.
As Field Operations Manager, you will take full ownership of installation, service and maintenance delivery across your region, leading a team of regional Service Engineers. This is a hands-on operational leadership role sitting at the heart of a major UK-wide programme, giving you genuine autonomy to build and shape your regional operation from the ground up.
This role would suit an experienced field service or operations leader who thrives on ownership and pace, and who wants to play a pivotal role in a fast-growing, investment-backed business during an early and exciting stage of a major national rollout.
Responsibilities of a Service Manager:
- Own end-to-end delivery of installation, commissioning, service and preventative maintenance activity across the region
- Lead, develop and manage a team of regional Service Engineers, including supporting recruitment, onboarding and training
- Plan and manage regional resourcing, route planning and workload balancing to maximise engineer utilisation and productivity
- Hold day-to-day accountability for health & safety performance, ensuring full compliance with RAMS and safe systems of work
- Monitor and control regional costs, including labour, travel and overtime, contributing to national performance targets
- Ensure accurate and timely use of service management systems, reporting tools and operational dashboards
- Act as the key operational point of contact for customers, stakeholders and senior management within the region
Skills & Qualifications of a Field Operations Manager:
- Proven experience managing field-based engineering or service teams at regional level
- Experience delivering installation and/or service operations within SLA-driven environments
- Strong leadership skills with a track record of managing operational performance, productivity and utilisation
- Educated to degree level (management, engineering or related field) or equivalent experience
- Strong commercial awareness with a clear focus on cost control and continuous improvement
